Here are two new 36" benches in my Waltham design. They are a custom order from a Neal and Company of Texas, a design firm that has chosen some of my work for the remodeling of a Cape Cod summer residence. These benches will join 10 of my Waltham chairs and a painted pencil post bed in the Cape house. The benches are a bit small for two adults unless they are are good friends but they fill a space nicely and are very comfortable and roomy for one person and some stuff. These will be accent pieces on either side of a beautiful old cabinet being used as an entertainment center. The pictures below are of the benches unpainted and then painted with milk paint but not yet oiled and varnished. At that point , the paint is very rough and dull. The paint color is a very dark brown that was specified by the designer. I feel lucky when I work with a designer who makes suggestions that fill their need while working with what I do best. Many times, this is how I end up with great new designs.
